Bessie M. Homister, aged 90, of Saranac, passed away July 12, 2004 in Ionia.  
She was born August 9, 1913 in Chicago, the daughter of John and Anna (Baner) 
Pospisil. She married Martin Bohil and he preceded her in death in 1945. She 
married Joseph Homister, who also preceded her in death in 1984.  She was a 
member of Saranac Community Church and the Bannister Czechoslovokian Lodge.

Bessie was also preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Ann Spitzley; 
grandchildren, Sam Mutschler, Michael Mutschler and Ken Bettinghouse; and 
brothers, Charles Pospisil, Joseph Pospisil and a sister, Lillian Bradac.  She 
is survived by her daughters, Betty Jean Bettinghouse, of Hubbardston; Joanne 
Mutschler, of Saranac; and Karen Thorp, of Holland; sisters, Fran and Izzy 
Nowak, of Flushing; and Mary Jones, of Owosso; 16 grandchildren and 37 great-
grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mrs. Homister will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at the 
Saranac Community Church with Rev. John Madvig officiating. Interment in 
Saranac Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. 
at the Lake Funeral Home in Saranac. Anyone wishing may make memorial 
contributions to Saranac Community Church or a charity of their choice.
