Dorothy M. Honsowitz, 82, of Portland, died Wednesday, Feb. 24, 1999.  She was
born May 18, 1916, in Danby Township, the daughter of James and Ida May
(Glazier) Guilford.  Mrs. Honsowitz was employed at Holly Carburetor in Portland
and retired from Chrysler as a sewing machine operator in Lyons.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Martin J. Jr. on Nov. 11, 1973; two
brothers, George and Robert Guilford; and one sister, Margaret Grant.  Survivors
include two daughters, Aletha L. Honsowitz of Lansing and Linda S.(William)
Shumaker of Grand Rapids; two grandsons Brian (Amber) Smith and Bradley Smith;
great grandson Austin Smith; sister-in-law, Evelyn Guilford of Hold; and many
nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 27, at Gorsline-Runciman Co.
Heller Chapel, 210 E.  Bridge St., Portland, with Rev. Scott K. Otis, pastor of
Portland United Methodists Church, officiating.  Interment will follow in Danby
Township Cemetery, Portland.  The family will receive friends at the chapel
today from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.  Those desiring may make contributions to Big

Mich.  48933, or to the charity of one’s choice.
