He was born Aug. 9. 1919, the only child of Delia and Louis Hoopman, who preceded him in death. Charles moved back to his hometown of Ionia after retiring from 28 years of military service in the U.S. Air Force. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He was preceded in death by his wife, Myfanwy Hoopman on Aug. 31, 1981, whom he met and married during World War II in England. Charles was also a member of the Masonic Temple. Surviving are two sons, Ed (Margaret) Hoopman of Saranac, and Glenn (Gail) Hoopman of Seattle, Wash.; two daughters Gail Dyal of Hobe Sound, Fla., and Brook (Larry) Landes of Ionia; seven grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Cremation has taken place and as per Charles request there will be no visitations. Service will be held at a later date. Arrangements by Lake Funeral Home of Saranac.
