Hoopman, 82, known as Delia; who lived at 623 East Washington, died Thursday afternoon at Ionia County Memorial hospital where she had been a patient the past two weeks. Born September 9, 1885 in Wisconsin, she was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Beno Heiss. April 27, 1912 she was married to Louis C. Hoopman in Oshkosh, Wis., and they came to make their home in Ionia from Detroit in 1939. She was associated with her husband from 1950 to 1960 in the Hoopman frozen food locker on East Main. A member of Christian Science society of Ionia, she was a reader until the time of her illness. A member of Queen Esther chapter OES, she had recently served as chaplain. Memberships were also with Ionia Garden club, American Legion auxiliary of Gerard-Horrocks post, Blue Star Mothers, Ionia Senior Citizens club and former member of Banner grange. Besides her husband Louis she leaves a son Charles of Panama City, Fla., four grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Sylvia Lehmigk of Oshkosh, Wis., and Mrs. Nora Schaefer of Milwaukee, Wis. Funeral services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Myers funeral home with Reader Frank Smith of Stanton officiating. Burial will be in Balcom cemetery.
