Ionia Sentinel Standard, 15 Apr 2005

Gertrude (Jeanette) Hoort, aged 89, of Ionia, formerly of Cascade, went to be 
with her Lord on Wednesday, April 13, 2005.  She was preceded in death by her 
husband, August, in 1999.

She is survived by her children, Joyce Buning of Middleville, Mary and Bob 
DeKoekkoek of Kalamazoo, Jim and Carol Hoort of Ionia, Phyllis Hoort and 
special friend Connie Van Houten of Greenville, Janice DenBesten of Tucson, AZ, 
and Eileen and Henry Hofstra of Lansing, 21 grandchildren, 38 great 
grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.  She is also survived by 
her sisters, Pauline Arnesen, Harriet (Vaughn) Baxter, Ruth VanHouten, and 
Helen Brandsen; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services are Monday at 11 a.m. at the Zaagman Memorial chapel, 2800 
Burton, St., S.E., Grand Rapids, with Pastor Milton Doornbos officiating.  The 
family will receive friends and relatives at the funeral chapel on Saturday 
from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. ad Sunday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.  Memorial contributions 
may be made to Green Acres Assisted Living Facility in Ionia, or a charity of 
your choice.
