January 13, 2024 HOOVER David C.Hoover of Spring Arbor passed away at home on Saturday January 6, 2024. David was born in Rosebush,Michigan on the family farm to Orcutt Clair Hoover and Salome (Smith) Hoover on December 29, 1932. David is a graduate of Mt.Pleasant high school. David worked in a manufacturing facility in Chelsea, Michigan before he enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1953 and served until 1956.David started working in a machine shop in Chicago for a short time before he started working at Mitchell Bentley in Ionia,Michigan In September 1957 David married Lavonna Seiter and moved to Ionia,Michigan.David started working with the State of Michigan in the Fish Division. He continued to work for the State of Michigan for 38 years.David and Lavonna had two childlren Christine and Marilyn. David is preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister. he is survived by his wife Lavonna (Seiter)Hoover, daughters Christine (Hoover) Helmes Larry Helmes and Marilyn (Hoover) Sleder and Ted Sleder, Grandchildren Bobbie (Helmes)Kelley Ryan Kelley, Charlie Sleder, Katlyn Sleder, Audrey Sleder, Great- grandchildren,Cameron Kelley, Dylan Kelley, Brooke Sleder. One Sister Bethel Hoover and one brother Paul Hoover and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will take place on January 10, 2024 at Watson Funeral Chapel in Jackson at 1:30-2:30PM and service at 2:30 PM with Rev.Dr.Chris Dorn. Contributions can be made in honor of David to Gentiva Foundation (Gentiva rn Jackson, Michigan) David was an avid antique tractors and steam engines. Loved to attend steam engine shows.
