Louise Irene Shattuck was born Dec. 30, 1924, in Ionia, the daughter of Orin E. and Mary E. (Randall) Shattuck. She grew up and graduated from Ionia school. “Skinny” loved to watch and cheer on her two favorite teams, the Tigers and the Lions, and she loved to listen to the music of George Strait. She was a bartender and waitress for many years for the River’s Inn. “Skinny” was everybody’s aunt and will be dearly missed by her friends and family. She is survived by two sisters, Alice Dulek of Fenwick and Lucille Meyers of Fla.; a sister-in-law, Grace Gallup of Ionia; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers; one sister; three half-brothers and three half-sisters. A memorial service will be held to celebrate the life of Louise “Skinny” Hope on Sunday, March 12, 2000, at 4 p.m. from the Cook Funeral Chapel, Ionia, with Kathryn Baughman of the Ionia Area Hospice officiating. Interment will be in Highland Park Cemetery. A visiting period with family will be held from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home. The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Ionia Area Hospice. Envelopes are available at Cook Funeral Home, Ionia.
