Ionia Sentinel Standard, 20 Apr 1990

Louella P. Hopkins, 65, of Ionia, died April 19 at her home.  She was born May 
2, 1924, in Ionia County, the daughter of Daton and Anna (Tanner) Elzey.  

She was a lifelong resident of Ionia County.  She married F.J. (Jack) Hopkins 
July 13, 1943.  He preceded her in death Jan 24, 1981.  She retired from A.O. 
Smith, formerly Mitchell-Bently, in 1971.  She attended Shiloh Community Church.

Surviving are four sons, Robert (Bob) Hopkins of Pickford, Wayne Elzey of Ohio, 
Jerry Hopkins of Belmong and Dennis Hopkins of Coldwater; two daughters, Judy 
Datema of Ionia and Mrs. Paul (Cindy) Ruchs of Ionia; 17 grandchildren; three 
great-granddaughters; two sisters, Mrs. Ralph (Lucille) Hoffman of Fremont and 
Mrs. Roger (Shirley) Fredricks of Greenville, S.C.; and her mother-in-law, 
Edith Hopkins of Grand Rapids.  She was preceded in death by her brother Floyd 
Elzey.

Funeral services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Shiloh Community Church with the 
Rev. Kenneth Harger officiating.  Burial is in Saranac Cemetery.  Visitation 
will be Friday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 8:30 p.m. 
at Cook Funeral Home, Ionia.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Ionia 
Area Hospice or the Shiloh Community Church.
