Ionia Daily Sentinel Standard, 20 Apr 1955

Mrs. Velma Hopkins, 54, of Lyons died at Ionia County Memorial Hospital Tuesday 
evening at 7:30.  Mrs. Hopkins was born August 21, 1900, the daughter of Mr. 
and Mrs. Norman Jepson of Lyons.  She graduated from Lyons high school and 
County Normal of Ionia.  She was married to James Hopkins in Lyons where she 
has lived her entire life.  She is a member of the Lyons Methodist church, 
W.S.C.S. and the Evergreen chapter of the O.E.S.

Surviving besides her husband James, are one son, James Jr., of Lyons, one 
daughter, Mrs. Kenneth Ankerson of Traverse City and one grandson, Michael.

Funeral services will be held at the Lyons Methodist church Friday at 2 o’clock 
with the Rev. Mr. Watt officiating.  The body will be at Shaw-Rivett funeral 
home until time of funeral.  Burial will be in Lyons cemetery.

[Transcriber's Note:  The obituary gives her maiden name as Jepson; there is a 
notation on the obituary card that it is Etson.]
