He was born August 10, 1887, the son of Albert and Myrtle Hopkins, at the farm home east of Lyons and had lived all his life in this area except for the past several winters he lived in Florida. For several years he was foreman of Vinton Construction Co. Mr. Vinton was a brother-in-law of Mr. Hopkins. In 1913, Mr. Hopkins was married to Olive Tripp, who passed away in 1960. He was married in 1961 to Ileea O’Brian of Howard City who survives. He was a member of the Lyons Methodist church 25 years and a life member of Lyons lodge F&AM. Surviving other than his wife Ileea are two sisters, Mrs. John (Hazel) Dumon of Big Rapids and Mrs. Ford (Louise) Shoen of Portland, five brothers, Charles, John, Nathaniel and Albert all of Lyons and James of Traverse City, also several nieces and nephews. Services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Lyons Methodist church with the Rev. Williams Reynders officiating. Full Masonic ritualistic service will be given by the Lyons lodge at the church with Carl Miller of Wacousta officiating. Burial will be in Lyons cemetery. The body will repose at the Shaw-Rivett funeral home in Muir until noon Tuesday.
