The Portland Observer, December 15, 1932

The body of Miss Florence May Hopkins, 67, was brought here from Detroit 
Tuesday and laid to rest in Portland cemetery.  Miss Hopkins was the daughter 
of John V. and Sarah H. Hopkins, who at one time resided on a farm near Maple 
Corners, moving from this vicinity 60 years ago.  For many years after their 
removal the family made annual summer visits here, keeping up their 
acquaintances.  Mrs. Sarah Hopkins was a member of the Gillette family.  For a 
number of years Miss Hopkins had filled the position of librarian in Detroit.
