Josephine A. Hopkins, 76, of 1216 Haynor Road, Ionia, passed away Saturday, 
Jan. 28, 1995 at Ionia Manor Nursing Home, Ionia.  She was born July 10, 1918 
in Sheridan, the daughter of Lloyd and Martha Cooper Witzel.  Mrs. Hopkins had 
been a longtime resident of the Ionia area.  She was retired from General Tire 
in Ionia.

She is survived by one daughter, Percilla Benedict of Holland; two sons and 
daughter-in-law, Larry and Doris Hopkins, Danny and Mary Lou Hopkins, all of 
Ionia; three grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, four step-
grandchildren, and seven step-great-grandchildren; one sister and brother-in-
law, Esther and Don Shields of Reed City; and three brothers and two sisters-
in-law, Bob Witzel of Belding, Lowain and Martha Witzel, Kenneth and Ruth 
Witzel, all of Stanton.  She was preceded in death by her husband, R.D. 
Hopkins, in 1975, and one son, Barry Hopkins, in 1956.

Funeral services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Stebbins & Simpson Funeral 
Home, Sheridan, with the Rev. Kenneth Harger officiating.  Interment will be 
in Easton Cemetery.  Visitation will be today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the 
funeral home.  Memorial contributions may be made to Ionia Area Hospice.
