Hopkins, 77, of Fenwick, passed away Saturday, February 25, 2006 at his home. Jack was born August 11, 1928 in Bushnell Township, the son of Chauncey and Earsle Jeffrey Hopkins. He married Pearl Utter on August 28, 1946 in Ionia. Jack served in the United States Army from June 1946 to November 1947, serving in Korea. He worked for Gibson’s and also as a farmer for many years. Jack was a member of American Legion Post 380 of Carson City and enjoyed hunting, fishing, weekly poker games with family and friends, running his dogs and cutting wood. He attended Shiloh Church at Long Lake. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Jack D., on July 3, 1997; brother, Hoover Hopkins; and sister, Bernita Bush. Jack is survived by his wife of 60 years, Pearl; two daughters, Julie and Alfred Gonnella, Janet and Dennis Cowling, all of Fenwick; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; brother, Chauncey and Emma Hopkins of Fenwick; and sister-in-law, Edith Hopkins of Fenwick. Funeral services were Monday at Lux and Schnepp Funeral Home, Carson City, with Pastor Kendall Harger officiating. Interment is in Tuttle Cemetery, Ionia. Memorial contributions may be made to Shiloh Church at Long Lake or to the charity of one’s choice.
