Hopkins, 75, of South Johnson Road, Greenville, died at home on Thursday evening , May 19, 2000. She was born in Orleans on December 20, 1924, the daughter of Virgil and Ethelyn Helms Martin and worked many years for the Jolly Kid Co. in Belding. On November 7, 1940, in Stanton, she married Marshall F. Hopkins. She was preceded in death by a son, Marshall Jr. “Buddy” Hopkins in 1992 and also her sisters, Delores Cain in 1975 and Jacqueline Smith in 1987. Surviving are her husband of 59 years, Marshall of Greenville; their children, Janette and Mike Roger, James and Karen Hopkins, all of Greenville, Jena and Larry Staffen of Belding; nine grandchildren, Larry and Audrey Staffen of Fenwick, Helen and Patrick Cooper of Howard City, Shelly and Richard Bunce of Belding, George and Mike Jr. and Julie Roger, Patrick and Kristi Roger, Lynee and Dennis Laidlaw, Kendra and John Vinton, Kristen and John Fisher, all of Greenville, Jeffrey and Amy Hopkins of Sheridan; 15 great-grandchildren, five step- grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Donna and Jim Turner of Wapakoneta, Ohio; and nieces and nephews. Funeral services are Monday at 2 p.m. at the Hurst Funeral Home, Greenville, with the Rev. Ken Harger officiating. Interment will be in Rest Haven Memory Gardens, Belding. Visitation is Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Crippled Children’s Fund.
