Hopkins, age 29 years, passed away at University hospital in Ann Arbor where she had been a patient for five days. She was admitted to the Greenville hospital on December 1st and transferred to Ann Arbor on December 12th. Ailing for the past seven years from rheumatic fever, the young mother, the former Ruby Mead, daughter of Ervin Mead of this city, was born on September 7th, 1924, in Isabella county, near Mt. Pleasant. The young woman was married to Cleo Hopkins in this city on June 20, 1942. He survives, as do five children; a son, Virgil, age 10; a nine year old son, Ervin; a daughter, Mae, age eight, and four month old twins, Gerald and Julia, all of this city; the father, Ervin, of W. May St.; four brothers, Otis of Owosso, Harvey and Wilbur of Lansing, and Henry of Portland; three sisters, Mrs. Elsie Rowley of Grayling, Mrs. Margaret Vreeland of Winn and Mrs. Minnie McBridge of Mt. Pleasant. Funeral services were held on Monday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Huffman chapel, with burial being made at River Ridge cemetery in this city. The officiating clergyman was Mr. Joseph Burridge and pallbearers were Mearl Hopkins, Earl Hopkins, Wilford Hopkins, Harry Johnson, Jr., William Main and Martin Jeffery.
