From his home on Cleveland street he had walked to the Husted store on the corner of Main and Mill streets. While there he was taken ill and driven to his home by one of the men in the store. As they drove in the yard Mr. Hopkins asked to be allowed to sit in the car for a few minutes until he felt better, but died before he could leave the car. He was born at Ithaca on March 27, 1877, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Hiram Hopkins, who were farmers in the community. From Lansing he moved to the community between Greenville and Belding where he was employed in farming until his health broke about five years ago. He lived there about 15 years, and was married on June 28, 1924, for a second time. Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Lila Hopkins; four children by the first marriage who live at Lansing, Claude Hopkins, Ernest Hopkins, Richard Hopkins, and Mrs. Mabel McMann; five children at home, Margaret 12, Elsie 10, Rosaline 8, George Jr. 7, and Arthur 3; three brothers, Jake, Frank, and Hiram Hopkins, all of Lansing; and one sister, Mrs. Pearl Butler of Lansing. Funeral services will be announced later. ------------ Funeral services for George Hopkins of Cleveland street who died suddenly Friday evening were held from the Myers funeral home on Tuesday afternoon at 1 o’clock. Rev. Wiley Smith of Lansing, pastor of the Lowley Nazerine Undenominational church, conducted the services. Music was by Mrs. Ernest A. Smith, Mrs. Flora Smith, and Mrs. Pearl Hanna of Lansing, with Mrs. Ambler Van Sickle of Lansing at the organ. Bearers were Claude Hopkins, Ernest Hopkins, Richard Hopkins, Charles McMann, and Fred Metzer. Interment was in the family lot at Mt. Hope cemetery in Lansing. Relatives attending from away were Mr. and Mrs. Claud Hopkins, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Hopkins, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Hopkins, Mr. and Mrs. Charles McMann, Mr. and Mrs. Jake Hopkins, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hopkins, Mr. and Mrs. Hiram Hopkins, all of Lansing.
