Hopkins who died Wednesday afternoon were held Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Stone-Kauffman funeral home with the Rev. Fr. Roger J. Bunday officiating. Mr. Hopkins was a United Spanish War Veteran and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the Grand River Valley post at Saranac. Pallbearers, all members of the V.F.W. of Saranac, were Phillip Grieves, Charles Theisen, Stephen Sparks, Dale Hauter, Bernard DeHaan, and Charles Phillips. Full military rites were conducted by the AMVETS. Color bearers were Carl Seabrook and Ralph Leland, and honorary guards were Kenneth Smalley and Tony Helderop, the firing squad consisted of Robert Duell, William Haberstumpf Jr., Elwood Larson and John L. Leland. Burial was at Easton cemetery. Those who attended the services from away were Mr. and Mrs. Donald Hopkins and Orren Hopkins of Detroit, Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Baldwin, William Baldwin, Mr. and Mrs. Edson Baldwin, Mr. and Mrs. Burton Olmstead of Grand Rapids, Mrs. Ted Klein, Gary and Ronnie of Saranac and Mr. and Mrs. George Tryon of Lake Odessa.
