Oct. 27, 2018 VIRGINIA LODAINE BIGGER HOPKINS Lodaine passed away on Wednesday October 24, 2018 at the age of 79 after a long battle with Alzheimer's. She was born in Ionia on April 22, 1939 to Fred and Virginia Bigger. She is survived by her children, Denise (Kenny) White of Ionia, Julie (Dean) Myers of Delton, Chris (Michael) Hopkins-Crawford of Grand Rapids, and Jason (Tera) Hopkins of Katy, TX; brother, Fred (Robbie) Bigger of Grant; and brother-in-law, James Steehan; as well as 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, James Caskey; sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Norb Fox; sister, Loys Sheehan; and sister-in-law, Betty Bigger. Lodaine lived in Ionia most of her life and graduated from Ionia High school in 1958. She had a long career with the State of Michigan working at the Ionia StateHospital, Secretary of State Complex in Lansing, Social Services in Grand Rapids, and retiring from Riverside Correctional in Ionia in 1996. She also volunteered for the ionia Youth League for many years in the 90's serving as Treasurer, Vice President, and President. Lodaine will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her. There will be a celebration of life in April 2019 for her birthday.
