                              NATHANIEL HOPKINS Jr.

IONIA-Nathaniel P."Neal" Hopkins Jr., age 87 of Ionia formerly of Saranac passed 
away October 11, 2022. He was born January 26, 1935, in Lyons son of Nathaniel 
P. and Ruth K. (Mestemaker) Hopkins. Neal attended Lyons High School graduating 
in 1954. He would go on to marry Doris L.Reeder in 1963 in Lyons.

Neal worked for Mitchel Bentley and would later move on to General Motors as a 
Metal Finisher where he worked for over 35 years.He loved going to auctions and 
was an avid hunter and fisherman.He was especially proud of his children and 
grandchildren.

Surviving is his wife of 59 years, Doris Hopkins of Ionia. Children: Denise 
Hopkins of Grawn MI, Brian (Ellen) Hopkins of Barrington, IL, Tammy (Chris) 
Forney of Canton,MI, Bruce (Heather) Hopkins of Otsego, MI and Jason Hopkins of 
Dallas, TX; Grandchildren include Justin Czamanske, Emma Hopkins, Matt Hopkins, 
Jordan Forney, Elizabeth and Hailey Prater. Also surviving is sister-in-law 
Sharon Brandt of Ionia. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services for Neal will be held 1:00 p.m., Saturday October 22, 2022 at 
Lake Funeral Home in Ionia. A visitation will be from 11;00 Am.until time of 
service at the funeral home. Online condolences may be made at
