Hopkins, 61, of 354 W. Fenwick Road, Fenwick, died Sunday, Oct. 1, 1989, at Butterworth Hospital, Grand Rapids. A longtime resident of the Fenwick, Palo and Ionia areas, he was born June 3, 1928, in Clinton County to William E. and Rose Inbody Hopkins. He was an employee of WCI Refrigerator Division, Greenville, a veteran of the U.S. Army and a life member of Lester J. Sitts VFW Post 5065 in Sheridan. On June 26, 1948, he married the former Arlene F. Bonoite in Palo. She survives. Also surviving are two daughters and a son-in-law, Glee and William McKeown, Stanton, Kay McDonald, Sheridan; two sons and their wives, William and Ann Hopkins, Ionia, Henry and Rose Hopkins, Muir, two brothers, Chauncey R. Hopkins, Palo, Clyde Sanborn, Vestaburg; 19 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. Funeral services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at Stebbins and Simpson Funeral Home, Sheridan, Pastor James Wilcox officiating. Interment is in Sunny Hill Cemetery.
