The Ionia Sentinel-Standard, Saturday, December 24, 2005
Gary W. Hopkins, aged 63, of East Grand Rapids, passed away unexpectedly 
Wednesday, December 21, 2005.  He was preceded in death by his father, George 
Hopkins Sr.

Surviving are his wife, Jean Hopkins; two daughters, Darcy (Marc) Afman of 
Grand Rapids, Meredith Hopkins and her fiance’, Richard Green, of New Mexico; 
grandson, Collin Afman and a grandson on the way; his mother, Veronica Hopkins 
of Fla. and his brother, George Hopkins Jr. of Maine.

Gary graduated from Rider University with a BS Degree and also from Aquinas 
College with a MM Degree.  He worked as Investment Executive for Ionia County 
National Bank.  He was known for his outstanding work ethic.  Traveling was 
always his goal.  

The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Metcalf 
and Jonkhoff Funeral Service where a memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. 
Friday.  For those who wish memorials may be made to a charity of one’s 
choice.  The family is being served by Metcalf and Jonkhoff Funeral Service, 
4291 Cascade Rd. SE at Kenmoor, East of I-96.
