Hopkins, 83, of 228 Irish St., Lyons, died Saturday evening in Ionia County Memorial Hospital. He was born Aug. 1, 1900, in Lyons Township, the son of Albert and Myrtle Taylor Hopkins. He attended Lyons High School. He was employed at Fisher Body in Pontiac for 15 years and then returned to Ionia where he worked at A.O. Smith until his retirement in 1965. He was married to Lillian Marshall in 1942; she died in 1950. He was married to Helen Liscombe in July 1952; she died in September 1978. He was a member of the Golden Years Senior Citizens Club and attended Muir Christian Church. Surviving are a stepson, Gary Liscombe of Lyons; three stepdaughters, Virginia Jones, Sheridan; Jacqueline Harper of Lyons; Nancy Wohlscheid of Grand Ledge; one brother, Nathaniel Hopkins of Ionia; and one sister, Louise Shoen of Lyons; 14 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be 2 p. m. Wednesday at Muir Christian Church, the Rev. Stephen North officiating. Burial will be in Lyons Cemetery. Until noon Wednesday, the body will repose at Hull Memorial Chapel.
