Carol was born on January 23, 1929 in Lansing Mi. to Carroll Patten and Helen 
Kerr Patten. Carol passed away at age 85, on October 4, 2014 at Ingham Regional 
Assisted living in Lansing, Mi., where she received loving and special care 
during the last year of her life.

Carol now joins sons Michael, who passed away on March 16, 1971, and 
Christopher, who passed away on June 16, 2008.

Left to cherish her memory are daughter Lynn and son in law Tim Smith, of Grand 
Ledge, Mi., daughter Peggy and son in law Mike English, of Potterville, Mi., 
grandsons, Shane Marsh of Eaton Rapids, Mi., Elijah English(Sarah), of 
Charlotte, Mi., Brent (Diane) Smith, of Portland, Mi., Ryan (Amanda) Smith of 
Auburn, Alabama, granddaughters, Nicole English of Potterville, Mi., Stacie 
(Paul) Godin of Granger, Indiana, and Krista Stauffer of Westphalia. Also 
surviving are great grandchildren, Ethan, Trevor, Peyton and Julia Smith, Clara 
and Alexander Godin, and Braydon, Elleanna and Delaney Stauffer. She is also 
survived by a sister, Gwen Patten, of Saranac, Mi. Also surviving is Brenda 
Harper, who always held a special place in Carol’s heart.

Carol loved her job at Tri County Electric, where she became friends with those 
she worked with and maintained lifelong friendships long after her retirement. 
She enjoyed the monthly retiree luncheons held at the Wagon Wheel.

Her love of traveling took her to Hawaii, Florida, Tennessee, Wisconsin, 
Las Vegas, Missouri, Mardi Gras in Louisiana, as well as many other places of 
interest.

A memorial in Carol’s honor was held on Wednesday, October 8, at 12:00 noon at 
Oneida Gospel Church, 3048 E. Strange Hwy., Grand Ledge, Mi.  Arrangements by 
the Holihan-Atkin Funeral Home, Grand Ledge.
