Hoppough died at his residence south of Smyrna Thursday evening, Dec. 22nd, at the ripe old age of 79 years, 11 months and 15 days, passing peacefully away as if falling asleep. He was born in Sussex county, N.J., and at the age of 26 years married Lydia Noble. He was a millwright by trade, but came to Otisco in 1864 and bought the Alvin Moe farm, south of Smyrna, where he and his wife have since resided, rearing a family of ten children and battling with the ups and downs of life successfully. The funeral was held at the old home Sunday, Rev. J. N. Taft, of Greenville, preaching the sermon, assisted by Rev. Lyman Spaulding, of Oakfield. His wife and ten children survive him.
