Marilyn “Flip” Hoppough, of Ionia, age 76, loving mother and grandmother, passed away on Wednesday, March 4, 2009. She was born on March 7, 1932 in Ionia the daughter of Otis and Alta (Smith) Chapin. Mrs. Hoppough was a 1950 graduate of Ionia High School and on March 7, 1952 she married George Guy Hoppough in Ionia. She loved the casino trips and playing bingo and cards. She recently retired from Ionia Eight Cap where she made many very dear friends over the years. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George Hoppough; 3 sisters, Betty Brooks, Lorraine Miller, and Dorothy Nummer; 2 twin brothers, Larry and Jerry Chapin. Surviving are her sons, George L. Hoppough of Ionia, David (Gwen) Hoppough of Ionia, and Jim “Charlie” (Sandi) Hoppough of Six Lakes; twin daughters, Sharon Hoppough (Jerry) Ward of Lyons, and Karen (Richard Read) Hoppough of Ionia; 11 grandchildren, Jodi (Kevin) of Big Rapids, Erin (Butch) of Ionia, Shannon (LeRoy) of Ionia, Heather of Carson City, Amy (Cody) of Lowell, Josh of Lowell, Jamie Wagner of Ionia, Jimmy (Amy) of Ionia, Wendy (Martin) of Texas, Stephanie of Chicago, and Taylor (Luke) of Edmore; 18 great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. A Funeral Luncheon for Mrs. Hoppough will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, March 9, 2009 at the Ionia Moose Lodge. Arrangements are entrusted to the Schrauben- Lehman Funeral Homes, Ionia.
