George L. Hoppough, 27, of near Orleans, died Thursday evening at 7:10 following an appendicitis operation performed Sunday at the local hospital. Mr. Hoppough was a well known young man, having lived his entire life in that community, with the exception of a time after his marriage when he farmed near Portland. He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Guy Hoppough and received his schooling in the Piper school. He leaves his wife and four small children, Guy, Bobbie, Bonnie and Jerry, ranging in age from 8 to 2 years; the parents; three brothers, Floyd at home, Raymond of Lansing and Frank of Ionia; three sisters, Mrs. Earlyn McCain of Flint, Mrs. Elgie Warden of Shiloh and Mrs. Stanley Robinson of Portland. Funeral services were held at the Hoppough residence Sunday afternoon with Rev. H. S. Ellis officiating and burial was in Highland Park cemetery in Ionia. The funeral was largely attended and pallbearers were Wilson and Wilbur Young, William Schroeder, Smith Rowley, Kenneth Heliker and Carlton Reeves. The sympathy of the Orleans community is extended to the Hoppough family in the loss of husband, father, son and brother.
