Robert M. Hoppough, 63, of Evart, formerly of Iona and Lake Odessa, died 
Thursday, Dec. 7, 1994, at Cadillac Mercy Hospital.

He was born Aug. 7, 1931, in Orleans Township, the son of George and Alberta 
(Frost) Hoppough.  He lived most of his life in the Ionia area.  He was 
educated in Ionia area schools.  He was married to the former Marlene Slater on 
Jan. 15, 1955, in Ionia.  He was a former co-owner of H & H Automotive, and 
owner of Hop’s Drive-In and a former City of Ionia police officer.  He was 
retired from the Michigan Training Unit in Ionia.  He had been active in Boy 
Scouts, and was past president of the Ionia Hunting and Fishing Club.  He was a 
member of the Ionia Jaycees and the Ionia Loyal Order of the Moose.  He was a 
veteran of the Korean War, serving in Okinawa.

He is survived by his wife, Marlene; three sons, Scott (Connie) Hoppough of 
Ionia; Todd (Cathy) Hoppough, of Ionia; Craig Hoppough, of LeRoy; eight 
grandchildren; two brothers: George (Mairlyn) Hoppough, of Ionia ; Jerry (Pat) 
Hoppough, of LeRoy; four sisters, Bonnie Slater, of LeRoy; Dawn (Ray) Reed, of 
Ionia; Dee (Roy) Cook, of Fenwick; Velma Ludwick, of Ionia; and several aunts, 
uncles, nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents and his 
stepfather, Calvin Miller.

Memorial services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Cook Funeral Home.  
The Rev. Kenneth L. Kurtz will officiate.  Visitation will be from 10 a.m. 
until the service at the funeral home.  Memorials may be made to the Ionia 
Farmers Market Pavilion in care of the Ionia Area chamber of Commerce.
