Hopough, 68, of 694 Lakeview Drive, died Wednesday, February 18, 1981 at Blodgett Memorial Medical Center in Grand Rapids. He was born December 6, 1912 in Orleans Township, the son of Guy and Maude (Comstock) Hopough. he attended Orleans schools. He married Genevieve Jinks in March, 1942. He was employed by the Ionia Road Commission until his retirement in 1974. He was a member of the Ionia Elks for thirty-six years, Saranac American Legion and the Lake Odessa V.F.W. He served as a Combat Engineer in the South Pacific from 1943 to 1946. Mr. Hopough is survived by his wife, Genevieve; two daughters, Mrs. Linda Barber of Williamston, and Mrs. Janet Cook of Hastings; two grandchildren, Lisa and Randy Cook; two sisters, Mrs. Dorothy Robinson and Mrs. Irene Worden, both of Orleans; two brothers, Frank of Orleans and Floyd of Saranac. One brother George preceded him in death. Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, February 21, from the Pickens- Koops Funeral Chapel of Lake Odessa. Rev. Kenneth Harger officiating. Burial was in Orleans Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lake Odessa Ambulance Equipment Fund.
