She was born Eva Brink, May 18, 1856, in Otisco township and married George Hoppough Sept. 28, 1874. They lived in Smyrna where they owned and operated the general store and post office for more than 40 years. Her husband died May 9, 1922. She was a member of the Maccabees there and the O.E.S. and was active in everything that was for the best interest of the community. Three children were born to the union, Carl and Cora having preceded her in death, and Clayton, of Pacific Beach, Calif. Funeral services were held at the Greenhoe Funeral Home in Grand Rapids on Tuesday at 1:30 and a commitment service was held in Smyrna cemetery where she was buried beside her husband.
