Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Methodist church with the Rev. William Blanding officiating. The body will lie in state at the church from 12:30 until 2:00. Burial will be in Greene cemetery. Mrs. Hopwood was born in Wayne, N.Y. in 1858 and came to Michigan four years later. She was graduated from Ionia high school in 1875 after completing grade school work at Lyons, Prairie Creek and Lowell. Following her marriage to Edwin Howe in 1877 her husband continued his education at the University of Michigan, later practicing medicine at Chicago and in Ionia county. Following Mr. Howe’s death, the deceased was marred in 1903 to Hiram Hopwood. She came to Belding school in 1895 as second grade teacher, after being graduated from Western State Teachers college. Mrs. Hopwood continued at Belding until 1983 when she retired at 75 from the professions. She was a very active member in the Methodist church and was also affiliated with the Belding Legion post auxiliary and WCTU. Surviving are the husband; a daughter, Mrs. Ethel Moorman of Irvington, Alabama; and a son, Leonard Howe of Grand Rapids.
