Mrs. Cathryn Horiszny, 36, wife of Lieut. Steven Horiszny, and daughter of Mr. 
and Mrs. Hugh Wellfare of Danby, died Wednesday forenoon, May 31, in St. 
Lawrence hospital where she had been under treatment for eight weeks, during 
which she underwent several blood transfusions.

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. EST, from a funeral 
home in Lansing with burial in Danby cemetery.  Rev. Stanley Coors, pastor of 
the Central Methodist church, Lansing, of which she was a member, conducted 
the church service and Rev. B. F. Wade of Mulliken and the Grange conducted 
the service at the cemetery.

Mrs. Horiszny was born in Danby July 11, 1908, and attended the Compton school 
and Portland high school from which she was graduated as an honor student in 
1924.  For several years she clerked in the Walgreen drug store in Lansing.  
In 1941 she was married to Steven Horiszny and remained with him as much as 
possible at various camps in the United States until he left for the southwest 
Pacific.  All efforts to bring her husband home during her illness were 
unavailing.

She was an active member of Danby Grange, Danby Cemetery society, Ladies 
Literary club and Compton PTA; County, State and National Grange; Lansing 
Central Methodist church.  She was a talented musician.

Surviving her are her husband, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Wellfare, one 
brother, Jesse Wellfare of Lansing and two sisters, Marian Boughner of 
Portland and Dorothy Davis of Flint.
