Edna Jean Horn, 74, of 627 E. Main Street, Ionia, died at her residence early Tuesday. The former pastor of the Church by the Side of the Road in Ionia, she was also broadcast a weekly radio broadcast, called by the name of the church, for more than 50 years until retirement several years ago. The radio program had an international audience. She was born Oct. 23, 1909, in Grand Rapids, the daughter of Arba and Pearl McDermott Green, both of whom were Salvation Army officers. She attended Ionia High School and was married in the Rev. Lewis Horn in 1930. Ordained by the Assembly of God Church that same year, she both assisted her husband and continued her own ministerial work. She was a charter member of the National Religious Broadcasters Association, a past present of the Ionia Council of Church Women United, and a member of the Ionia Ministerial Association. She was also a district evangelist for the Assembly of God Church. Surviving are her husband, one son, Marshall Horn of Tulsa, Okla.; one daughter, Mrs. James (Carol) Green of Ionia; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren; two brothers, John Green of Richland and Allen Green of Ionia; and three sisters, Ernestine Bradley of Redding Calif. Gladys Helmer of Willow Sprigs, Mo., and Eleanor Burgwald of Grand Rapids. Funeral services will be Saturday, Oct. 13, at 2 p.m., from the Sheridan Assembly of God Church, the Rev. James Wilcox officiating. Burial will be Highland Park Cemetery, Ionia.
