Elizabeth Antonette Horrocks, 79, of Hesperia, passed away on Wednesday, May 4, 
2011, at her home. Elizabeth was born on Aug. 12, 1931, in Grosse Pointe, to 
Wesley and Mildred (Hanesworth) Gennig and married Ralph M. Horrocks on Sept. 
8, 1950 at Saint Columba Church in Detroit.

Elizabeth worded at the State of Michigan, Employment Security Commission for 
21 years prior to her retirement. She was a member of the Hesperia Quilters, 
taught a generation to sew as a 4-H leader for over 15 years (Thimbelinas), and 
knit treasured items for family members and friends through the years. She was 
also member of the State Retirees Association.

Elizabeth is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Ralph; children, 
Sandra Horrocks of Hartsel, Colo., Nancy (Ralph) Bittner of Vassar, Blaine 
(Nathalie) Horrocks of Freeport, Maine, Judy (Philip) Knape of Newaygo and 
Steven (Jackie) Horrocks of Zeeland; nine grandchildren; seven great 
grandchildren; and a sister, Barbara Mann of France.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Constance Vancea.

Visitation will be held on Saturday (today), May 7, 2011 from 6 to 8 p.m. at 
the Crandell Funeral Home in Fremont. A memorial service celebrating 
Elizabeth’s life will be held at 11 a.m., on Friday, May 13, 2011, at the 
Shiloh Church north of Ionia on Long Lake Road with Pastor Ken Harger 
officiating.

Friends are asked to consider the Shriners Hospital for Children for a more 
lasting memorial. Friends may send a condolence or share a memory online at
