Jerald was fortunate to live a long and happy life. A life in which he witnessed the world change in dramatic ways. From a time where he rode a pony to school, and walked behind a horse and plow with bare feet, to a day and age where everyone carries a computer in their pocket. Jerald met Patricia in 1944. Six months later they were married and they never looked back. They worked together every day for 68 years, an incredible partnership that created a beautiful family and a successful business. Being inactive was never an option, he had decided early on they were going to have a fruitful and happy life. Jerald was a pioneer of the Lansing business community, the founder of Horrocks Farm Market. He was known to be fair-minded, kind, and generous. He always had kind words for friends and strangers alike. A natural innovator, he pioneered many farming and retail techniques. His life's work was to ensure the future of his children, his grandchildren, and his great-grandchildren. That's the most anyone can hope to accomplish. Jerald was a well-rounded man, accomplished musician, expert golfer, and avid fisherman. He loved and greatly appreciated the people he worked with and the community he served. He will be survived by his family who he loved so unconditionally and completely: His wife Patricia Horrocks; three sons Kim (Ana) Horrocks, Scott Horrocks, Kirk (Kay) Horrocks; grandchildren, Brandon (Alison) Horrocks, Autumn Horrocks (Ryan Trierweiler), Abby Horrocks, Adam (Mallory) Horrocks; great grandchildren, Jack and Jane Horrocks, Emily Horrocks, Easton and Everett Stevens, Ocean Horrocks Trierweiler and Hunter Horrocks. All are welcome for a visitation at the Lake Funeral Home in Ionia from noon to 4 p.m. on Thursday. In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations to the Helen DeVos Children's Hospital.
