Horrock, age 93, of Ionia passed away at his farm surrounded by his loving family January 6, 2023. He was born on September 3, 1929, in Ionia the son of John and Bernice (Gee) Horrocks. Jack was a graduate of ionia High School with the class of 1948.He then went to work on is family farm growing fruits, vegetables and assisting his father making and selling apple cider. Jack was drafter into the Army and proudly started serving his country in the Korean War on January 9, 1951, in the 45th Thunderbird Division. Following his discharge onNovember 6, 1952, Jack enrolled in the nursery/landscape program at the Agricultural College of the State of Michigan (Currently Michigan State University).Prior to his college graduating in 1955. Jack was united in marriage on April 17, 1954, to Arlene Yeomans, together they had four children,Mark,Diane,Matt and Julie.Jack was the founder of Horrocks Nursery farms,Ic. His love for growing plants ,beautifying homes and businesses with his landscapers along with raising and providing for his family was his upmost priority in life. He continued assisting in daily operations of the business up until his passing. Jack always had a story to tell, word of advise such as all tractors need a roll bar, or history lesson he felt you needed to know! jack touched a lot of lives where you just met him, an employee or long-time friend. Surviving Jack is his loving wife of 68 years,Arlene Horrocks of Ionia. Children,Mark (Jane) Horrocks of Ionia, Diane (Felix) Adame of Muskegon, Mathew Horrocks of Ionia and Julie (Don) Kronewitter of Ionia. Grandchildren; Dan (Kayla) Horrocks, Elizabeth Horrocks, Christina (Jamie) Wilde, Christian Adame, Chandler Adame, Kylie (Josh) First,Spencer Shellenbarger, Logan Kronewitter and Rylie Kronewitter. Great-grandchildren; Hadley, Riley, Nami, Brant, Alicen and Azalea. Sister-in-law Patricia Horrocks of Portland.Several nieces and nephews, cousins, and many special friends. Jack was preceded in death by his parents; sister Geraldine Horrocks and brother Jerald Horrocks. A special thank you to Rosie Snyder, Jennifer Thompson, and Hospice of West Michigan for all they did! One of many mottos Jack taught his kids was "Winners never quit, and quitters never win!" A celebration of live will be at Easton United Methodist Church Saturday, January 14, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Felix Adame officiating.Interment with Military Honors to follow at Easton Cemetery. Visitation will be on Saturday from 11 am until the time of services. In lieu of flowers the family has requested memorial contributions to Freedom Wall (Belding Veteran's Park) 11692 Youngman Rd., Belding MI. 48809, or Easton United Methodist Church.
