Wave, Thursday, Nov. 14, 1974 Murl Hostetler, 80, of 214 Oak St., Freeport, passed away at Pennock Hospital, Hastings a short time after admittance. He was born at Shipshewana, Indiana, November 26, 1893, the son of Harry and Mary (Weaver) Hostetler and moved to a farm in the Alto area in 1910 where he resided until he moved to the Lake Odessa area in 1943. They moved to a farm in the Freeport area in 1938 and had lived in Freeport village since retiring in 1965. Mr. Hostetler attended the Bowne Mennonite Church. He married Edna Mishler in 1914, who survives. Surviving besides his wife are five sons, Lawrence and Orlo of Alto, Howard of S. Hastings, James of Woodland and Gerald of Holt; to daughters, Mrs. Frank (Edwina) Burgess of Mt. Pleasant, and Mrs. Arthur (Barbara) Ketchum of Mason; 22 grandchildren; four great grand children; two brothers, Otis Hostetler of Goshen, Ind., and Merritt of Anderson, Ind.; three sisters, Mrs. Edwin (Marion) Miller of Elkhart, Ind., Mrs. Rosella Splecher of Ligonier, Ind., and Mrs. Harley (Luella) Miller of Middlebury, Ind. Mr. Hostetler reposed at the Pickens-Koops Funeral Chapel at Lake Odessa until 11 a.m. Saturday and then taken to the Bowne Mennonite Church where funeral services were held at 1:30. Rev. Ronald Yutzey officiated with burial in the Church Cemetery.
