Lowell Ledger, 31 Dec 1942

Edwin Gilbert Hotchkiss was born October 2, 1870 in South Boston, Ionia County,
and departed this life December 26, 1942 at the age of 72 years, 2 months, 24
days.   He resided all his life on the farm in South Boston where he was born,
until about a year ago.  Then being unable to do the work, he moved from the
farm into the Ralph Story home, where he lived until two months ago, when he
moved to the home in Lowell.  He was married on October 25, 1906 to Miss Cassie
Woods of Elmdale.  He leaves to mourn their loss his widow; a daughter, Mrs.
Evalyn Briggs; a son, Sergeant Evert Hotchkiss of Camp Barkley, Tex.; a sister,
Mrs. Cora Fox; brother-in-law, Walter Blakeslee, a host of other relatives and
friends.  Funeral services were held Tuesday at 2 p.m. from the home, Rev. David
Warner officiating.  Interment in South Boston cemetery.
