Mr. M. Houdan died last Friday. He was nearly 90 years of age. ------------ Died. – At Cook’s Corners, Friday, August 23d, Mr. Michael Houdin, aged nearly 90 years. Mr. H. was born at Newark, N.J., January 15th, 1791. When a boy he removed to Tompkins county, N.Y., where he resided until he grew up to manhood. He then removed to western New York, where he was married. He came to Michigan in 1840, and has lived in various parts of the state until three years ago, when he came to this township and found a home with his niece, Mrs. Wilson. He was the father of seven children; he followed six of these to the grave; the seventh is a wanderer and if alive his whereabouts is unknown. His wife, aged 75 years, has been for some years an inmate of the insane asylum at Kalamazoo. He was a patriot and a pensioner, having served in the war of 1812. Although he had no near relatives he was kindly cared for in his last days. The funeral was held at the Corners, and his remains were buried in the Orleans Center cemetery.
