In the fall of 1857 she became a member of the Lutheran church and in 1858 moved with her parents to Manchester, Ohio, where on June 15, 1873 she was united in marriage to David S. Houghtaling,. One child, Ada, who is now Mrs. Lester Bivins of Coopersville, Mich., was born to this union. Mr. Houghtaling passed to the beyond on August 11, 1885. Mrs. Houghtaling was a steadfast Christian, living every day of her life true to her high principles and a devoted member of the Methodist Episcopal church. She went to her eternal home at 2:30 a.m., October 20, 1916, and the earthly remains were taken from her home by her daughter to their last resting place at Hubbardston, the next day. Funeral services were held in the Hubbardston M.E. church Saturday afternoon and interment was made in the East Side cemetery at Hubbardston.
