After living to the old age of 87 years, Addison Houghton, 216 W. Division passed from this life at his home Friday night, August 4, 1933. Mr. Houghton had been in failing health for some time but was up and about his home the day he died. Old age and the recent hot weather are thought to be the cause of his passing. Mr. Houghton and daughter, Mrs. Edna Wood, moved to Belding 7 years ago from his farm 5 miles north of Ionia. He was born near Lake Odessa, February 5, 1846 and lived in this county practically all his life. Mrs. Houghton passed away nine years ago. Mr. Houghton was a member of the Church of Christ at Woodard Lake for the past 40 years and at the time of his death he and a lady in Ionia where the last surviving members. Funeral services were held from the late home Monday afternoon. Rev. H.S. Ellis officiated and burial was in the family lot in Woodard Lake cemetery. Surviving besides Mrs. Wood who has practically been a constant companion of her father all her life, are two other children, Mrs. Armor Rich, of Sheridan, and Frank Houghton, Woodard Lake.
