Carl W. Houserman, 84, of 5881 S. Jackson Road, Saranac, died June 2, at
Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids.  He was born in Boyne Falls on Feb. 14,
1906, the son of Herman and Anna Kaden Houserman.  He married Mary Goodenough on
August 29, 1931, in Elkhart, Ind.; she survives him.

Also surviving Houserman are two daughters: Mrs. David (Jean) Mackey of Saranac
and Mrs. Lyle (Joyce) Kneale of Portland; one brother, Claude Houserman of Grand
Rapids; one sister, Elizabeth Engel of Pickney; as well as three grandchildren
and two great-grandchildren.  Two brothers preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the Lake Funeral Home in
Saranac.  The Rev. Gordon Iocco will officiate.  The family will be at the
funeral home Monday from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and on Tuesday from 2 p.m. to 4
p.m. and 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.  Memorial contributions may be made to the building
fund of the West Berlin Wesleyan Church of Lake Odessa or the Saranac Volunteer
Fire Department.
