Kenneth Houserman Final military rites for Pfc. Kenneth Houserman, 23-year-old son of Herman Houserman of Boston township will be held Sunday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Morris funeral home, Saranac. The Leroy L. Dausman post, American Legion, will conduct the services. Pfc. Houserman was killed last Saturday while on maneuvers at Fort Rosecrans, Calif. His body will arrive in Saranac late Friday night. ------------ Funeral for Saranac Soldier Held Sunday The body of Pfc. Kenneth Houserman, who died from injuries received from a premature explosion of a large gun at Rosecrans Camp, California, last week, was brought to Saranac arriving early Saturday morning, accompanied by Pfc. Walter Michaud as military escort. Funeral services were held at Morris Funeral Home Sunday afternoon at two o’clock, Rev. E.H. Humphrey officiating, and burial was in the family lot in Saranac cemetery. The American Legion had charge of the burial rites, Pfc. Walter Michaud and Clifford Scott were honor guards. Bearers chosen were Bryce Gale, Charles Topp, John Topp, Gerald Adgate, Paul Boger and Lyle Derby. Kenneth Houserman was born December 11, 1920, in Saranac to Herman and Anna Houserman and died in the service of his country January 20, 1944. He had always lived in Saranac until his enlistment 10 months ago. Graduating from his high school with the class of 1938 he was associated with his father in business in town until the father’s retirement and then worked on the farm in Boston township with his father. He is survived by his father and one sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Engle, of Ypsilanti; three brothers, Carl of Berlin township, Claude of Saginaw and Donald of Orange. Kenneth was home four months ago on a furlough, returning to his camp in California shortly after New Years.
