The Ionia Daily Sentinel-Standard, Thursday, April 1, 1920

Mrs. Elmer Howard died at Detroit where she has been for the past five months 
and the remains were brought here this afternoon, being taken to the house on 
Mill street where Mr. Howard and his daughter, Mrs. Eddington reside.  The 
funeral announcement will be made late.

Mrs. Howard who formerly resided in Ionia township was taken to Detroit five 
weeks ago and was brought to Ionia on a cot, John Koerner, a neighbor 
assisting in bring her here.  Mr. Koerner recently died of pneumonia, Mrs. 
Howard, who was suffering from cancer, surviving him several weeks.
