He was 85. He was born Dec. 5, 1922 in Ionia to Albert and Mae (Emmons) Howard. He served in WWII in US Air Force. He was employed with Consumers Power Company for 32 years and retired in 1986. He married Esther Marie Brownell, Nov. 28, 1953 in Ionia, Mich. He was a former member of Easton Methodist Church in Ionia. He enjoyed deer hunting and time spent at the family cottage on Crooked Lake, Missaukee County. In later years he heightened his interest in coin collecting. He also enjoyed square-dancing, traveling and taking care of his home and yard. He is survived by his wife Esther B. Howard, his son Brian R. (Jaclyn) Howard of Ionia; three grandchildren Sarah Schalow, Carah Schalow and John Schalow, all of Ionia and sister Agnes Hall of Belding. He was preceded in death by his daughter Debra Lee Howard Wieczorek and granddaughter Angela Kay Weiczorek. Both passed in July 2, 1975. He was also preceded in death by brother-in-law Leonard Hall. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday March 12, 2008 at Easton United Methodist Church in Ionia. Officiating will be Rev. Nancy Patera. Interment will be in the spring at Easton Township Cemetery, Ionia. Visitation will be 6 to 8 pm. Tuesday at the Hitesman-Holdship Funeral Home Cadillac. Memorials may be made to Michigan Parkinson Foundation, Easton United Methodist Church, Mercy Hospice of Cadillac.
