Ionia Sentinel, 11 Mar 1974

Mrs. Bettie J. Howard, 49, of 715 North Monroe, Lowell, a former resident of 
Ionia, died suddenly Sunday evening at St. Mary’s hospital in Grand Rapids.  
She has recently been in ill health.

Born March 26, 1924, in North Plains township she was the daughter of Albert D. 
and Minnie M. Urie Bennett.  She was employed at Superior Furniture company of 
Lowell.

January 29, 1947, she was married in Ionia to Robert Howard who survives.

She had lived in Ionia and Florida before moving to Lowell where she lived 
eight years.  She was secretary for one of Ionia’s Friday night bowling leagues.

Besides the husband, Robert, she leaves her mother, Mrs. Minnie Neilsen of 
Ionia; three brothers, James Bennett of Lyons, Fred Bennett of Battle Creek and 
Mrs. Otis Bennett of Ionia; sisters, Mrs. Hubert Whorley, Mrs. Arthur Mathews 
and Mrs. Perry Helmes of Ionia, Mrs. Donald Melchert of Muir and Mrs. Roy Hart 
of Battle Creek.

Funeral services will be Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. at Myers-Roetman funeral home.  
Interment will be at Balcom cemetery.
