O. WED. ----------- LOCAL MANAGER OF CITIZENS TELEPHONE COMPANY HERE MANY YEARS. DIES AT JAMESTOWN, NEW YORK -----------. Word was received here Tuesday of the death of fred G. Howard in Jamestown, N. Y., and on Wednesday the body arrived here for burial. The funeral service will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Congregational church where Mr. Howard was a prominent member for many years. Mr. Howard worked for the Citizens Telephone company in Grand Rapids from 1900 to 1911. He was then sent to Greenville where he was manager of the exchange until 1920, he then came to Lake Odessa as manager which position he retained until his health failed about seven years ago. In 1928 they moved to Jamestown, N. Y., where his son Lawrence lives, who is manager of the Weber-Knapp Co., of that city. He died on the forty-third wedding anniversary of his marriage, which was the fortieth birthday of his son. A service was held Tuesday at Jamestown. Besides his wife, and the son above referred to, he leaves two daughters, Mrs. Helen Horton of Jamestown, N. Y., and Mrs. Marian Fuller of Omaha, Neb., and eight grandchildren. One daughter preceded him five year ago. Mr. Howard was 62 years of age, and was an example of patience and Christian fortitude.
