Mr. Howard served through the Civil War in the second Michigan Cavalry and after the war married Sarah A. Homer, August 12, 1865. There were born to this union, a son, Archie of Belding, and a daughter Jennie, wife of Richard Flinn, of Hinton; a sister and five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and a host of friends are left to mourn their loss. Mr. Howard died at the home of his daughter, February 19, 1917, at the age of eighty-six years eleven months and twenty two days.
