Howard, wife of William Howard, passed from this life Feb 3, 1909, aged 59 years, 6 months, being one of a family of eight children of Robert C. and Mary Skillen, five of whom survive her, John, of California; Gawn, of Iowa; Robert, of New York; Elizabeth, of Ohio; Jane, of Michigan. She was married to William Howard Nov. 30, 1873, one son Clark W., being born to their union Sept. 4 1879. Both husband and son survive her. They resided in Oakfield township thirty-four years of their married life. Being religiously inclined, she was a devoted wife, a kind and loving mother. In her last years she was a great sufferer, but often visited the sick, striving to relieve them in their afflictions. She was a kind neighbor and a true friend, beloved by all who knew her. Being a pioneer, she will be greatly missed and the bereaved husband and son have the sympathy of the entire community. Remember her kindly for what she hath done, Grief-stricken husband and heartbroken son; Call her not back to this sad world of care, But strive in your sorrow to meet her up there, Where the angels rejoice around the white throne, And parting from loved ones and death are unknown. Kindly remember the deeds she hath done, That your loss is her gain to that beautiful home Where sickness and sorrow can enter no more, Or cast their dark shadows on that evergreen shore, Where in pure robe of white our loved ones will stand And welcome us home to the beautiful land. CARD OF THANKS: We which to express our heart felt thanks for the assistance rendered us by kind friends and neighbors in our bereavement; also for the beautiful flowers.
