All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/mi/mifiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Marilyn Ransom mlnransom@chartermi.net October 4, 2010, 1:53 pm The Belding Banner-News, Wednesday, August 3, 1921 Archie Howard, aged 49 years, a painter in the employ of Belding Bros. & Co., while engaged in painting one of the water tanks at the Richardson Mill, fell a distance of between 30 and 40 feet, Friday forenoon, landing on his head and sustaining injuries which caused his death at the Corporation hospital, Saturday night at about eleven o’clock, never having regained consciousness from the time of the accident until he died. It appears that no one saw the accident, but when he fell in a pit, outside a window of the dye house, Charles Williams, of West May St., who works in the dye house, heard the impact as the man struck and concrete bottom of the pit and he with a fellow employee, William Moyer, hurried out through the window and assisted in getting Mr. Howard out of the pit and inside the factory, where his injuries being discovered to be of a very serious nature, he was rushed to the hospital and physicians called. Funeral services are being held this afternoon at two o’clock from the house, Rev. H. S. Ellis, of Ashley officiating and burial is to be in River Ridge cemetery. Mr. Howard was born in Grattan township and had resided there and in this city all his life. Surviving are his wife, two sons and a daughter.
