She was the daughter of Orlin and Emily Alger. At the age of eighteen she was united in marriage to Dewitt Perine and to this union three boys were born, the youngest of whom preceded her to the glory land. The older of the other two sons, Clarence Burdette Perine, is now residing in Washington state and the younger, Marion DeWitt Perine, lives in Montana. She spent twenty one years in San Francisco, Cal., where she lost all her property in the earthquake and fire. She then returned to Lyons, which was about thirteen years ago. About eight years ago she was joined in matrimony to Ransom Howe, who died about four years ago. Eleven years ago she was happily converted and joined the Methodist Episcopal church of which she has been an earnest and consistent member since that time. She recently made a visit to her friends in the west, came home sick, accompanied by her sister, who remained with her and ministered to her until death relieved her from her great sufferings. She leaves, besides her relatives, many friends to mourn their loss, but who are comforted in the fact that she died triumphant in the faith.
